In November 2001, Kids Unlimited of Southern Oregon inaugurated the Main 1 Arts Center, Southern Oregon’s newest center for youth arts education, enrichment, and performance. Thanks to generous support from the Carpenter Foundation of Medford, the center includes a state-of-the-art studio complete with a 600 square foot hardwood spring-cushioned dance floor and a central art gallery for youth exhibits, meetings and classes.
Since its inception, the center has offered daily activities for hundreds of students interested in the entire range of cultural arts: dance lessons from ballet to break dancing, art lessons from photography to graffiti art, drama lessons from basic acting to clowning. In addition, the Main 1 Center is becoming a center for youth performance ranging from music concerts to karaoke, comedy to competitive rap. With time and support, the Main 1 Center is sure to achieve our goal, which is to make it a creative arts hub for young people.
